ADVANCED ORAL GEL PLATFORM

WATER-FREE, MUCOADHESIVE ORAL-HEALTH TECHNOLOGY

WATER-FREE. SALIVA-ACTIVATED.

ACS Biomed is developing a differentiated oral-health platform designed around an anhydrous formulation architecture that progressively hydrates upon contact with saliva. The platform is being explored through two technological configurations designed for different industrial and commercial strategies.

The challenge

THE ORAL MUCOSA IS A DIFFICULT ENVIRONMENT.

The oral cavity combines constant moisture, continuous salivary turnover and mechanical movement. Together these conditions rapidly reduce how long a locally applied formulation stays where it was placed.

For functional components this is a delivery problem rather than a dose problem: the development challenge is maintaining contact with the mucosa long enough for the formulation to perform its technical role.

Scientific context

The context in figures.

Epidemiological context for the oral-health area. Not evidence of product efficacy.

3.7 billion

2.5 billion

The science

FROM ANHYDROUS TO MUCOADHESIVE FILM.

The platform rationale is one of delivery: start from a water-free system and use saliva as the trigger for hydration.

  1. THE PROBLEM

Contact time is the critical variable

Salivary turnover and movement shorten how long a formulation remains on the oral mucosa. Without residence, the technical contribution of functional components stays limited in time.

  2. THE MECHANISM

    Progressive hydration triggered by saliva

An anhydrous carrier remains stable before application and hydrates progressively on contact with saliva. That change of state is the phase in which the polymer system develops its mucoadhesive characteristics.

  3. THE FORMULATION ANSWER

    Water-free carrier and mucoadhesive polymers

The concept combines a water-free carrier system with mucoadhesive polymers, designed to form a film on the mucosa and improve the residence of the components it carries. Final formulation under development.

The epidemiological references describe the context of the therapeutic area. Literature on individual components is not evidence of finished-product efficacy: no study has been conducted on the ACS formulation, which remains under development.

Delivery

WATER-FREE, SALIVA-ACTIVATED DELIVERY.

The platform is being developed around an anhydrous oral-gel architecture designed to remain stable before application and progressively hydrate when exposed to saliva.

Parameters such as water activity, residence time and stability window remain development parameters until experimentally confirmed, and are not published.

The Standard configuration contains milk-derived lactoferrin and is not described as vegan or dairy-free. For the Vegan / Precision Fermentation configuration, vegan, dairy-free and Halal compatibility will be stated only once technically and regulatorily verified. No regulatory approval is guaranteed.

Microbiome

MICROBIOME-FOCUSED ORAL CARE.

The development concept may include the components below. Not every candidate will necessarily appear in the final commercial product: final formulation under development.

SACCHAROMYCES BOULARDII

Probiotic yeast included among the candidates in the formulation concept.

LACTOBACILLUS RHAMNOSUS SP1

Probiotic strain under evaluation within the platform.

POSTBIOTIC FRACTIONS

Postbiotic components under evaluation within the concept.

OPTIONAL K-B0399®

Inclusion subject to the final formulation.

Protection

MUCOADHESIVE ORAL PROTECTION.

The rationale is physical and delivery-led: supporting hydration and residence on the oral mucosa through film formation.

SODIUM HYALURONATE

A component that supports hydration within the formulation system.

POLYMERIC FILM FORMATION

Designed to form a protective film on the oral mucosa.

PROGRESSIVE HYDRATION

The shift out of the anhydrous state happens on contact with saliva.

RESIDENCE ON THE MUCOSA

Designed to improve residence on the oral mucosa and support its comfort.

Format

DEVELOPMENT FORMAT.

Single-dose oral gel in stick-pack. Protective single-dose packaging under development.

Partnership

PARTNERSHIP OPPORTUNITIES.

The platform enters the oral-health area through a technological approach — anhydrous, mucoadhesive delivery — rather than as another reference in the category.

Two technological configurations allow distinct industrial and market strategies to be built from a single formulation architecture.
